Jake Marisnick TOR Promoted from Class A Adv. Dunedin to Double-A New Hampshire
Notes: Late word Thursday had MLB.com's No. 49 prospect moving up to the Eastern League after three months in the Florida State League. Marisnick struggled in the pitcher-friendly FSL but got his OBP up to .349 with seven hits and five walks in his last five games. Marisnick burst on to the prospect scene with a fantastic 2011 in Class A Lansing where he batted .320 with a .397 OBP and 37 stolen bases as a center fielder. He had two hits and an RBI in his debut with New Hampshire.
Gary Sanchez NYY Promoted from Class A Charleston to Class A Adv. Tampa
Notes: MLB.com's No. 44 prospect -- along with No. 62 prospect Mason Williams and 14th-ranked Yankees prospect Tyler Austin -- make the move up. Still just 19, Sanchez posted an .870 OPS in 68 games for the RiverDogs, while 20-year-olds Williams and (.848 in 69) and Austin (1.002 in 70) were as impressive. Though all three have room to grow defensively, the more significant test in going from the South Atlantic to the Florida State League will come in the batter's box. The pitches they face will, on average, be older and more consistent in the strike zone. Will Sanchez -- and Williams and Austin -- rise to the level of more formidable competition?
